The 2021 Supermotoland Husqvarna Junior Talent Team ride
Following the success of the Supermotoland Husqvarna young racer initiative in 2020, The Supermotoland Husqvarna Motorcycles Race team has a team ride available for a young rider to compete in the 4 or 5 round 2021 Spanish supermoto championship in the SM-ROAD (Asphalt only) or SM-JUNIOR (with dirt section) championships.
The SM-JUNIOR and SM-ROAD class are a stepping stone for riders wanting to prove themselves before potentially moving onto a road race career in the Spanish CEV series and then onto Moto3, moto2 and motogp world championship racing. There is also a career path into world championship level supermoto.
This exact path has been taken by current motogp racer, Iker Lecuona ( Fan Club Iker Lecuona ) who won the SM-ROAD championship in 2015 at the age of 15 and now races for the KTM tech3 MOTOGP team.
The SM-JUNIOR and SM-ROAD class are a cost effective way to develop young riders and then get them noticed for a road racing career. It’s a lot cheaper than road racing with less risk of injury and crash damage. Most Spanish road racers are also racing (or have raced) in the Spanish supermoto championship to improve their skills and increase their racing profile, exposure, and experience.
The Supermotland Husqvarna Junior Talent team initiative is looking for a young rider (15 to 23 years old) to run in the Spanish championships alongside its current JUNIOR TALENT team members, Loris Ford-Dunn (2nd in the 2020 SM-JUNIOR championship) and Malaysian racer Khairulamirin Yahaya (who finished 12th in his rookie year in the SM-ROAD class).
Anyone interested should email Mat Ford-Dunn at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details on the team ride availiable.
Racing experience and a will to win are required but the racing background can be from any form of motorcycle racing (MX, road racing, mini bikes etc…)
Some financial input will be required although the team ride is heavily subsidised and therefore very affordable.
Training packages and coaching can all be arranged.
The Supermotoland Husqvarna race team is the official Husqvarna team in the Spanish supermoto championship and runs the supermotoland Race school from its base in Murcia, Spain.
We hope you can join us in 2021.
