Race report for round 4 of the Spanish Supermoto championship

Round 4 of the Spanish Supermoto championship was held at the Madalena circuit in pontevedre, in North west Spain. The circuit is situated in the hills around Forcarei and always seems to produce mixed weather conditions on the fast sweeping circuit. This year was no exception with a dry and sunny Saturday for qualifying and the superpole race and then rain for the main races on Sunday.

It was a roller coaster weekend for British racer Loris Ford-Dunn. He qualified in 3rd position in the Sm road class and in the superpole race he was in 2nd place and chasing down the leader when he crashed. Despite a quick remount he could only finish 12th which positioned him at the back of the grid for the two main races on Sunday.

In Sundays wet races he had a superb first race and got as high as 3rd position before a small crash and remount meant he finished in 4th place. The second race was less dramatic and a bad start meant he could only manage 7th position and 5th overall for the weekend. He now sits 6th in the championship standings.

British racer Nick Cronin continued to improve in the SMroad 30+ class for riders over 30 years old. Nick is still returning from a nasty knee injury in 2022 and he had a solid weekend in his first ever wet races on a supermoto bike. He finished 4th overall and maintains his 4th position in the championship standings. A superb result in only his first full season of racing supermoto.

British racer Ryan Blackburn had another impressive weekend in only his 4th ever supermoto race and his first ever wet weather supermoto race. Ryan continues to improve in the SMroad+30 class and this time out he managed an impressive 5th overall. He maintains his 5th position in the championship standings.

The Supermotoland Husqvarna race team has a summer break now before the 5th and final round of the Spanish supermoto championship at Kotar circuit in September. However the action never stops as the team turns its attention to the prestigious Xativa street race in August.

Many thanks to the racers, mechanics, team personnel, team sponsors and the many race fans that follow the teams progress, as we continue to bring new racers into the sport of supermoto and focus on training and rider development to produce some fantastic results.

Thanks to our main team sponsors Husqvarna motorcycles, Advance Moves and Putoline oils. We couldnĀ“t do all this without your help.
