First ever Malaysian racer to compete at the European S4 Supermoto championships.

First ever Malaysian racer to compete at the European S4 Supermoto championships.

The Supermotoland Husqvarna Junior Talent team will be entering Malaysian racer Khairulamirin Yahaya into the first round of the European Supermoto championships to be held on the 27th June at the Grand Prix of Abruzzo, in Ortona, Italy.

This will be the first time that a Malaysian racer has competed at the European Championships and it will be a steep learning curve for Khairulamirin who is known as ‘Rin’ by his friends in the Spanish Supermoto championship, where he has been competing this year.

The young Malaysian, who was selected to ride for the Junior Talent Team last year, has had an impressive run of results in the highly competitive Spanish Supermoto championship, which inspired the team to take him to the European Championships to further progress his racing career.

Rin is from a road racing background and therefore competes in the SM Road class in the Spanish championships and the S4 European championships, which are on asphalt and do not include a dirt section with jumps.

The S4 European championship is the highest level of Supermoto road racing in the World (as there is no S4 world championship…….yet!)

The Racing is really tough in Europe and Rin is having to learn new tracks quickly in order to be competitive at the races. The first GP is going to be really hard as he is going up against the top Italian racers on their home track, but he has been training relentlessly to be ready.

Before the GP in Italy, Rin and the Supermotoland Husqvarna Junior Talent team have the final round of the Spanish Supermoto championships to contest at Albaida in Valencia, Spain. They are hoping it will prepare them well for the GP of Abruzzo just two weeks later.
